When and what to do?
Pre‑arrival training
Finish the HRD Korea pre‑training. It includes basic health‑insurance info.
Foreign‑resident registration
Within 14 days after arrivalGet your alien registration card at the immigration office within 14 days after arrival.
Automatic health‑insurance enrollment
You’re automatically enrolled from day one. The company reports it to NHIS.
Monthly premium deduction
Premium is taken out of your salary each month. The company pays half.
When changing workplace
Within 3 monthsIf you change jobs, find a new one within 3 months. Otherwise you might have a gap in coverage.
Check before returning home
Vietnam is exempt from NPS, so you don’t pay the national pension. The exit‑insurance can be claimed after you leave.
How much do you pay?
The company covers half (about 89,900 won). Your actual cost is about 89,900 won per month.
Benefits that apply to you
Separate workers’‑comp insurance
The employer must enroll in workers’‑comp separately. If you get injured, workers’‑comp applies first.
National pension exemption
Vietnam is exempt from NPS, so you don’t pay the national pension, which reduces deductions from your salary.
Exit‑insurance
Instead of severance pay, you get exit‑insurance. You can receive it within 14 days after leaving.
70% hospital‑bill discount
Health‑insurance covers about 70% of hospital costs. You only pay the remaining 30%!
Please note
Visa may be cancelled if workplace change exceeds 3 months
If you can’t find a new job within 3 months, your stay status could be cancelled. Contact the employment center.
Report if employer didn’t enroll insurance
If your company doesn't enroll you in health insurance, that's illegal. Report it to the Foreign Worker Help Center (1644-0644) or NHIS (1577-1000).
Indemnity insurance enrollment limited.
E-9 visa is indemnity insurance Tier B. Only some insurers allow it. Check before you sign up.
