Health insurance info for specialists coming from Russia to Korea. No bilateral agreement, so pension refund may be hard.
When and what to do?
Entry and alien registration
14 days after entryGet your alien registration card within 14 days after entry.
Automatic health insurance enrollment
From day one at work, you're automatically enrolled as an employer‑insured.
Monthly premium deduction
Premium is automatically deducted from salary. Company pays half.
Check Russian insurance status
If you keep Russian health insurance (ОМС), check for duplicate coverage.
Check before returning home
No bilateral agreement, so pension refund is tough. Check NPS before leaving.
How much do you pay?
Company pays half. Your share is about 3.6% of salary.
Benefits that apply to you
Medical indemnity insurance Tier A
E-7 is Tier A. You can join any insurer's indemnity plan.
Low premium
Pay only 3.6% of salary and most treatments are covered.
Tax treaty applied
Korea‑Russia tax treaty prevents double taxation.
Freedom to choose hospital
You can go to any hospital in Korea freely.\nNo network limits.
Please note
Pension refund not possible.
There is no Korea‑Russia social security agreement.\nYou must pay the National Pension, but getting a refund when you return home can be hard.\nCheck NPS(1355).
Watch out for duplicate Russian insurance.
If you keep Russian OMC, you might have double insurance.
