When and what to do?
Pre‑training completed
Complete the pre‑training by HRD Korea.
Alien registration
Within 14 days after arrivalGet your alien registration card at the immigration office within 14 days of arrival.
Automatic health insurance enrollment
From day one at work, you're automatically enrolled as a workplace subscriber.
Monthly premium deduction
Premium is automatically deducted from salary. Company pays half.
Re‑employment within 3 months when changing workplace
Within 3 monthsIf you change jobs, you must find a new one within 3 months.
Apply for pension refund before returning home
Under the Korea‑China Social Security Agreement (2013~), you can apply for a pension refund at NPS.
How much do you pay?
Company covers half. Your share is about 89,900 won/month.
Benefits that apply to you
Industrial accident insurance applied separately
Employer must enroll in industrial accident insurance. Work‑related injuries are fully covered.
Pension refund possible
Thanks to the Korea‑China Social Security Agreement (2013~), you can get your national pension back when you return.
Departure‑end insurance
Instead of severance pay, you’re enrolled in departure‑end insurance. You can receive it after leaving.
Tax treaty applied
The Korea‑China tax treaty prevents double taxation.
Please note
3‑month rule for workplace change
If you don’t re‑employ within 3 months, your stay status may be cancelled. Consult the employment center (1350) in advance.
Report employer not enrolled in insurance
If your company doesn't enroll you, report to NHIS (1577-1000) or Foreign Worker Help Center (1644-0644)
Real‑loss insurance Tier B restriction
E-9 visa is real‑loss insurance Tier B. Only certain insurers are allowed

Yes, they differ. E-9 is always a workplace subscriber (Tier B). F-4 becomes workplace or regional subscriber (Tier A) depending on employment
Health insurance covers everyday illnesses/injuries. Industrial accident insurance only covers work‑related injuries/illnesses and pays the full treatment cost
If you're overdue 3+ months, benefits may be limited and you won't get hospital discounts. If overdue, ask NHIS about installment payment
