What to do

If you got less than the minimum wage, do this

'My salary looks weird...' If you think that, first do the calculation. It's not hard.

Reporters are protected

Your identity won't be revealed to the company when you report. The law protects you.

1

1. Calculate my hourly wage yourself

Divide your salary by actual hours worked. If it's less than 10,320 won, it's a violation.

2

2. Call the Ministry's customer center

Dial 1350 without area code. It's free.

3

3. Report to the local employment office

You can visit the nearest local office or report online.

4

4. Keep your pay slip and contract

You need evidence when reporting. Take photos or copies beforehand. This is the key step.

Check probation period

90% pay during probation, does my contract apply?

'Could I be covered too...?' Check your contract again.

All these conditions must be met for the 90% pay to be legal.

After 3 months, you must receive 100% (10,320 won or more).

What to do
1.Check contract period and probation clause in the contract.
2.If 3 months passed and you're still getting 90%, report it.

If not stated in contract, company can't give only 90%.

What to do
1.If your current hourly wage is below 10,320 won, ask your company.
2.If not solved, call 1350.
If contract details confuse you, call 1350 and ask.
FAQ

Check your questions right away

Does the minimum wage differ by visa type?
No. If you are legally allowed to work, you must get at least 10,320 won regardless of visa type. If the company says foreigners get less, that's wrong. Check with 1350.
Can meal or housing fees be deducted from salary?
Some items can be included in the minimum wage calculation, but the final net must not be below 10,320 won per hour. If you're confused, ask the customer center (1350).
Boss says foreigners aren't covered by minimum wage. Is that right?
That's wrong. Foreign workers with legal work permission are protected by the minimum wage law just like locals. It's not your fault. Don't worry and consult 1350.
I'm worried the company will retaliate if I report.
The reporter's identity is protected by law. Many foreign workers worry, but the company won't know you reported, so feel safe and get advice.
